Detailed tour itinerary

Day – 1
Arrive in Ulaanbaatar

We meet you upon arrival and transfer to hotel. Dinner one of local restaurant  and have good rest next days we will have long drive. Depending on your flight schedule, we will visit the National History Museum of Mongolia close to your hotel and have a short walk around the main square – Sukhbaatar. Accommodation: Hotel

Day 2: Ulaanbaatar to Moron & Khuwsgul lake.

After breakfast, we take drive from Ulaanbatar  to Murun, north most getaway town 9-10 hours’ drive. On the way we will be stop two times at the local restaurant we will have some local food. We will drive to Khuvsgul lake which is the second most voluminous freshwater lakes in Asia. It is located in the northwest of Mongolia, near the Russian border, at the foot of the eastern Sayan mountains. 100 km driving on paved road to reach the lake and enjoy the spectacular view of the area. Overnight accommodation will be in a tent or wooden cabin.

Day 3  Drive through Darkhad Depression to Tsagaan Nuur Village

Continue the journey to remote Tsagaan Nuur village in Darkad Depression. This beautiful depression/valley is rich in rivers, streams, lakes, and surrounded by impressive alpine mountains and taiga forests. Our journey through the mountains driving off road through mountain valleys and rivers. We will also stop at the 13 Ovoo (shamanic cairns) to make a blessing and a small glacier before setting up camp in the pine trees in the mountain valley. Arrive at the Tsagaan Nuur village and discover the village.. Accommodation: Guest house

Day 4  Riding to Reindeer herder’s

 After breakfast from Erdenes guest house.Meet our horse equestrian who will be following us during the entire horseback riding trip. We will start our horseback adventure heading to Baruun Taiga. There are two places in the depths of the Taiga where the reindeer herding people live in communities; Zuun Taiga (East Taiga) and Baruun Taiga (West Taiga) those are named after their location measured from the Tsagaan Nuur village. Entire riding to and from the Baruun Taiga is along wooded terrains with occasional open parts and some swampy areas. We will ride at walking speed most of the time. The West Taiga is home to 20 reindeer herding households live in 1-10 family groups between 2 and 10 km distance. Have an overnight in the tent on the way to Baruun Taiga. Accommodation: tent or tepee

Day 5: Stay another day in with reindeer people

Today, we will remain in the same area, and our discovery about the Tsaatan/Reindeer people will continue. We also have some hiking through the Taiga and along a mountain groove observing and familiarizing the area, its flora, and fauna. The area is rich in medicinal plants. Reindeer people use plants for food and medicinal purposes. Here we hope you can begin to really relax in this tranquil place amongst the beautiful and calm reindeer. Today we will learn how to milk the reindeer and how to make the products that are staple to the Tsataan diet; bread, milk curd, milk tea, cheese, donuts, and fresh mountain blueberry jam. We will also learn about their traditional crafts.

Day 6: Riding back to the Tsagaan Nuur village

It is time to say goodbye to the Reindeer people. We pack our luggage and mount on the horses. Ride back on the same trails and have an overnight in the tent.

Day 7 Drive back to Moron.

The administration center of the Khuvsgul province. Upon arrival, we will get a comfortable hotel room after a long adventure in wildlife. In the evening we will walk around the town center. Dinner one of local restaurant. Accommodation: Hotel

Day 8  Ulaagchiin Khar Nuur – Lake & Mukhart river

Today we drive towards the great meadow and Murun town where we will replenish our food stocks and begin the epic journey West across Mongolia towards the great Altai Mountains. We will stop and camp overnight on the Ulaagchiin Har Nuur(lake). Ulaagchiin Khar Lake is a beautiful lake in the semi-desert area. The northern shore of the lake is lined with impressive sand dunes and its southern reed shore and islands are magnet for migratory waterfowls. The lake is 30 km long, 10 km wide and 48 m deep. Nearby mountains are home to rare wild habitats including snow-leopard. Mukhart River – is without a doubt one of the key attractions in the vast steppes of Mongolia. This river itself is a masterpiece of nature, as it flows from underneath the sand dunes. Numerous berries such as blueberries and sweetbriers grow in this region. The locals highly recommend stopping by this beautiful lake for refreshments and relaxation. With its extraordinary features and is a beautiful oasis in the desert. One that may remind you of the Great Gobi Desert of Mongolia at the same time with oasis.

Day 9 Drive to Tsambagarav Mountain National Park

After breakfast we drive into the Altai Mountain Range and the Kazakh Golden Eagle hunter’s region. Here we will visit with a hunter and their family, and learn some of the secrets of working with the eagles. The Kazakh eagle hunters preserve the hundreds of year tradition of eagle hunting on horseback for foxes, marmots and even wolves. Only winter time eagle hunters hunt with their eagles when rabbits are pelted, foxes and wolves are at their most luxuriant. The trained eagles live with the trainer’s family and hunts with them for around nine years. Then released back into the wild for the rest of its life. See Kazakh Eagle hunter and his magnificent bird. Kazak family will show us how they train their eagles to hunt and you will also be able to hold this high spirit bird. In Mongolian Kazak culture the eagle symbolizes strength, freedom and vision for the Mongolian people. Visit his family and feel their grade hospitalities. Family keep many horses to milk and make a koumis (nomadic beer). When we stay with Kazakh family (host) so we can photograph locals and

Day 10 Explore Tsambagarav  National Parkl

We will ride for 20-25 km to the Tavan Belchir area to the north of the TsambaGarav Nat.Park through a mountain valley. Staying nearby Tsedenbal’s ger (Urianhai family). Urianhai is one of Mongolian ethnic groups, who were the best soldiers with bow and arrow of Chinggis Khaan. Here, you can walk only few hours to reach glaciers of Tsast Uul (4208m). There is small beautiful lake surrounded by many flowers. Good for photos. Camping next to one of Kazakh Eagle Hunters families. Overnight in tent or in the ger with family . ( BLD)

Day 11. Fly to Ulaanbaatar

After getting your forgettable lifetime experience, you will fly back to Ulaanbaatar. After breakfast, transfer to Olgiy airport to catch a flight for Ulaanbaatar.
