Detailed tour itinerary

Day – 1
Arrive in Ulaanbaatar

Meet your local guide and driver and transfer to central located hotel.Overnight in hotel.

Day – 2
Flight to Ulgii town, Bayan-Ulgii province.

Flight to Ulgii town, Bayan-Ulgii province. Unlike to other provinces its population is dominated by Turkic Kazakhs, which have their own language, customs and Muslim religion. Overnight in local hotel. Visit to local museum, black market and theater. Photography day of another culture and tradition than main Mongols.

Day – 3
Drive to the Altai Tavan Bogd National park Tsagaan Gol Valley.

We are entering Altai high mountain area and arrive at Shiveet Khairkhan mountain- the closest place to the Altai peaks reachable by the car. We are travelling at the altitude of 2500-3000 m. In this huge mountain, there is the highest point of Mongolia, 4374m above sea level. Stay at tented camp at Tsagaan Gol. Prepare horse and camel for next day. 

Day – 4
Trek Tavan Bogd Massif ( 15km up to Base camp )

Leave our vehicle and load our luggage to the horses or camel and trek toward the Altai tavan Bogd mountain(12km). This is the main focus of the trip. Photography day of the biggest ice-caped mountain range. 

Day – 5
Trekking Back to Tsagaan Gol Valley

Back to the van and after lunch drive to Khurgan lake, the lowest point of Altai Tavan Bogd National park.

Day – 6
Full photography day at Khurgan and Khoton lakes.

Full photography day at Khurgan and Khoton lakes and surrounding area. The system of these lakes, connected by a wide channel, is the source of the Hovd River which drains the whole Mongolian Altai. Khoton Lake is located in an intermountain tectonic depression in the northern portion of the Mongolian Altai.

Day – 7
Drive to Tsengel Khairkhan mountain.

Tsengel Hairhan is a mountain of the Altai Mountains. It has elevation of 3,943 m and the one of 13 high mountains with glaciers in Mongol-Altai mountain range.. On the way stop at Baga Turgen and Valley of Sumdairik. Here we can take photos of ancient man stones(balbals) that belonged to Turkic empire, existed 5th to 7th centuries. At Tsengel Hairhan mountain Kazakh nomads spend their summer. Visit families see how nomads make embroidaries, and milk products. You will busy with photographing, and more exited. Camping just next to families. 

Day – 8
Drive to Tsambagarav National Park mountain (4193m).

Come close to magnificent Tsambagarav mountain (4193m) . Enjoy with the natural beauty and meeting with local people. Stay in local eagle hunting family. Photography day of hunting eagle show and nomad life. Owners train eagles such as they chase fox skins dragged by their owners on horseback, collect marmots, small foxes and wolves and return to the ger, where the Kazakhs use them for food. Overnight tent.

Day – 9
Drive to Khovd city the major industrial center of western Mongolia.

Full day drive down a dramatic range of Altai mountains.Along the way, you’ll enjoy the frequently changing views of the mountain colors. Overnight at the hotel.

Day – 10
Flight back to Ulaanbaatar.

After early morning breakfast Transfer to the Olgii Airport

Departure from UB
